You may have seen this article in the news last week.  One thing it does not mention is how important it is to decrease the inflammation in your body.  Cholesterol is not the culprit, inflammation in the body is the problem.  The discussion of reducing inflammation in the body is quite complex, but one area it is tied to is the ratio of omega 6 fatty acids to omega 3 fatty acids.  The typical American diet is 50:1 in favor of omega 6 fatty acids which tilts the body to be inflamed.  Creating a balance of these fatty acids has been shown to reduce inflammation in the body and reduce the incidence of diseases associated with inflammation.
